No loyalty in football, even in the lower leagues.

That is the reaction from a majority of Barnet fans at the news that Martin Allen has left the Bees to join Notts County after only 3 matches in charge.

I was lost for words when he was appointed as manager of Barnet just 19 days ago.  But I am just infuriated at the way the situation has been dealt with.

One minute everything was OK, everyone was on cloud nine, next, we have been betrayed by a man thought to be our saviour.  Some are calling him Judas.  I can’t think of any other word to describe his actions.  He may have wanted the stability of a contract somewhere.  But surely there would have been an opportunity that would have arose at the end of the season for him?  I don’t know what goes through other peoples minds.

There is no loyalty in football.  That was proven today.  Carlos Tevez, Fernando Torres, and now Martin Allen.  An absolute travesty and that could be the downfall of the wonderful little club that we are fortunate to support.

The past three games have shown a very spirited Barnet side.  7 points out of a possible 9.  A team spirit which is very hard to come by.  The players looked like they were for once enjoying putting their shirts on and playing the so called ‘beautiful game.’

He had been banging on about how his changed the way they players were training with him, and how brilliant the fans have been.  But instead, all that feels like it has been thrown back in our faces.  19 days after his return, he is gone.  I really can’t say much more other than how disappointed and angry I am about the situation.

It is fair to say that most people associated with Barnet Football club do not wish Martin Allen the best for the future.
