Former Barnet manager, Peter Shreeves has been named the new director of football at Grays Athletic. Shreeves took over from John Still as Barnet manager in the spring of 2002. Along with new coach, Martin Allen, Shreeves took the club from 15th in the table to a final position of 5th in the Nationwide Conference. Hopes were high for the following season, but a mixture of bad luck with injuries and indifferent form kept the Bees in mid table and Shreeves resigned in March 2003 following a 1-1 draw away at Morecambe and he was replaced as Barnet manager by Martin Allen.

Former Barnet player and manager, Gary Phillips has been put in charge of Grays on the playing side following the sacking of manager, Craig Edwards. Grays have had 12 managers in 3 years.
