Edgware Town to play at Underhill

Barnet Mad understands that newly reformed, Edgware Town have been given permission by Barnet FC to play at Underhill for the early part of the new season, while work is completed on their own ground, Silver Jubilee Park, formerly the home of Kingsbury Town. It appears that Edgware will play their home games in the Spartan South Midlands League Division One next season at Underhill until the end of September.

The start of work on the club’s new artificial pitch has been delayed which means that Silver Jubilee Park  will not be ready in time for the start of the season. Edgware Town will play at Underhill until such time as the pitch is complete and the FA has certified the surface for games.

Clearly many Barnet fans will take this opportunity of going to see Edgware play at Underhill if only because of the fact that it will offer them a chance to revisit what many Barnet supporters will see as their ‘spiritual’ home. It must be a good thing anyway to see professional football being played once again at Underhill, particularly in light of the fact that it seems as though its days are numbered following the recent announcement that it was to be sold.
