Mark Byrne, who was released by Barnet at the end of last season has joined League One club, Newport County, who are managed by Justin Edinburgh, who Byrne played under at Rushden & Diamonds. Byrne arrived at Underhill in the summer of 2010 with Mark Stimson newly installed as manager. Byrne joined on loan from Nottingham Forest, having spent the previous season on loan at Rushden & Diamonds where he had been voted player of the year. Byrne scored in the 2011/12 end of season cliff hanger when Barnet won at Burton Albion to keep their league status.
Byrne scored 19 goals in over 150 first team appearances at the club and Barnet Mad wishes Mark all the best at his new club.
