Scarborough 2 Barnet 2

A draw was a fair result from a game in which Scarborough had the upper hand for most of the first half, while Barnet turned the tables after the break.

The Londoners almost took the lead in the second minute when Giuliano Grazioli broke away to produce a fine shot, only to see it blocked in a crowded goalmouth.

Play became scrappy and unproductive with only isolated incidents at each end.

Jacques Williams just failed to connect with a fine cross from the left before Barnet's Ian Hendon ran in and ballooned the ball over the bar.

The first serious chance of the game came after 25 minutes with a long, low drive from Scarborough's Scott Kerr which Bees keeper Shane Gore did well to save.

Two minutes later Scarborough went ahead through Matt Redmile from a free-kick by Scarborough's man of the match Ashley Lyth which caught Gore napping.

Barnet got back into the game in the 33rd minute with a fine header from Ismail Yakabu, nodding in Hendon's long free-kick.

The second half found both sides putting new life into the game, and Barnet took the lead through a 57th minute Hendon penalty after Lyth had tripped Yakabu.

Two minutes later Yakabu ran through and forced Scarborough keeper Leigh Walker to dive full length to save Barnet stepped up the pressure and forced four corners in 90 seconds and substitute Liam Hatch headed just over the crossbar as Barnet continued to look for goals.

Tension mounted in the late stages when Joe Gamble hit the crossbar for the visitors, but Scarborough got a well-deserved equaliser five minutes from time through Jimmy Kelly.
