Rotherham 2 Barnet 2 (Full Time)

Barnet travelled to Sheffield’s Don Valley Stadium this afternoon to play League Two leaders Rotherham United. Manager, Lawrie Sanchez not a side unchanged from the one that started the midweek game with Gillingham.

Barnet began the game well and Izale McLeod and Mark Marshall were prominent as the Bees caused the home side problems. Jason Price too had a shot which went just wide before the Bees took an unexpected lead on 36 minutes. A Marshall corner was headed home by Clovis KAMDJO from close range.Rotherhamreacted by gaining more of the possession than Barnet but could not get back on level terms before the break.

Three minutes into the second half and the home side were level following a cross from Schofield which was finished off by Troy Brown. However, Barnet’s heads did not drop and just past the hour the Bees regained the lead following a foul by Raynes on McLeod in the penalty area. MCLEOD scored from the resulting penalty to put the Bees 2-1 up.

Barnet continued to impress and Marshall, McLeod and Sam Deering had shots on goal. Rotherham nearly scored when a shot hit the crossbar and on 82 minutes they drew level through Adam Le Fondre. Despite pressure from the home side, the Bees held on for a very valuable away point. Next up are Burnleyin the 2nd round of the Carling Cup.
