Dino Maamria notched up his second hat-trick in three home games as Leigh RMI grabbed a vital 4-2 win over Barnet.

The Tunisian striker turned from villain to hero as he made amends for giving away a penalty by helping Leigh to their third home win of the season.

The Railwaymen went ahead on the half hour when a cross from new loan signing Stuart Whittaker found Andy Heald in space and he scored at the second attempt after the keeper had blocked his first shot.

Barnet who had disappointed and rarely troubled Leigh were given a lifeline in first-half injury time when Maamria handled the ball in the area and Ben Strevens hammered home the spot-kick.

The striker made amends a minute later however, when he put Leigh back in the lead with a header when Phil Salt's cross deceived the keeper.

It was Maamria who pushed Leigh further ahead in the 51st minute when he pounced on to sub Lee Gledhill's poor backpass rounded the keeper and slotted the ball home.

Barnet gave themselves another lifeline in the 76th minute when Junior Agogo fired home from 25 yards but with six minutes remaining Maamria ensured Leigh's third win of the season.

Salt slipped the ball to him on the edge of the box and he curled it round the keeper
