After a run of 10 successive away league defeats, Barnet have now won two and drawn one of their last four games away from Underhill. Saturday saw the Bees move another step closer to league safety with a 2-1 win at bottom club, Darlington.
David Livermore returned to the Bees’ side after missing the previous match at home to Accrington. Jake Hyde was the player to step down. It was the former Brighton player who put the Bees ahead on 23 minutes. Clovis Kamdjo headed down a corner and LIVERMORE lashed the ball home from close range to put the Bees ahead.
Just past the half hour, Barnet went two up when Albert Jarrett had the home defence on the run and then played the ball inside for Albert ADOMAH to score with a sweetly hit left foot shot from outside the penalty area.
The struggling home side, who now look doomed to relegation, created some chances but rarely tested Jake Cole. Barnet could have been 3-0 up when a misplaced backpass let to a clearance hitting John O’Flynn and the ball rolling just wide of the goal. All-in-all, a satisfactory first half for the Bees.

In the second half, Darlington applied more pressure on the Bees and they pulled a goal back just befor the hour. Chris Moore, making his first start for the home side, crossed from the right and Gary Breen, unaccountably, sliced the ball into his own net. Darlington could have leveled the scores a couple of minutes later when substitute Josh Gray saw his shot from close range cleared off the line by Kamdjo.
From thereon, Barnet were able to close down the game and the Bees ran out 2-1 winners, having taken 7 points from the last four away matches. The win took Barnet up a place to 18th. Grimsby’s surprise win over Bournemouth, however, means that Ian Hendon’s team are still just 10 points from the drop zone, though the Mariners have played a game more. Two more wins out of the last 10 matches should be enough for the Bees. Next up are Burton Albion at Underhill on Saturday.
