This weekend, the 2nd round draw for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy will be made and Barnet will be one of the clubs looking forward to seeing what fate has in store for them following a fine 3-1 away win at League One, Colchester United.
Both clubs named strong sides for this match. Exodus Geohaghon made his first start for the Bees after arriving earlier in August on a month’s loan and replaced Anwar Uddin at centre back, while Ricky Holmes came in alongside Izale McLeod up front in place of Jason Price whose one month contract had expired.
Barnet took the lead on just 7 minutes when Ricky HOLMES scored from inside the penalty area. Pat Baldwin put the home side level on 16 minutes, but just 3 minutes later and Izale MCLEOD scored from the penalty spot after being fouled to put the Bees 2-1 up at the break.

Just after the hour, McLeod was sent off for not retreating from a free kick and then arguing with the referee and the Bees were down to 10 men. However, it was the away side that scored on 74 minutes when Steve KABBA headed home from close range and Barnet held on for a famous victory and a place in the 2nd round draw. Next up: Accrington Stanley at home.
