Barnet got back to winning ways with a resounding win over relegation threatened, Southport. However, the Bees were made to wait until late on in the game before they could relax. Barnet went ahead on 20 minutes when a defensive mistake allowed Charlie MACDONALD to score with a left foot shot into the corner of the net. That turned out to be the only goal of the first half.
The Bees finally went 2-0 up on 82 minutes when a Lee Cook cross was fired home on the run by LUISMA VILLA. They went further ahead on 88 minutes when John AKINDE ran on to a long clearance and fired home through the goalkeeper's legs to make it 3-0. The scoring was completed by substitute, Sam MUGGLETON on 90 minutes. The former Gillingham full back headed home after being put through by a fine ball from Michael Gash. The win pushed Barnet eight points clear at the top of the Conference table, though Macclesfield and Bristol Rovers still have a game in hand.
