A look at the Shakers' squad

Goalkeepers:

Wayne Brown signed from Hereford United in June 2008. He made 132 appearances for the Bulls after joining from Chester in 2006 following a loan spell at Hereford. He was at Chester for 10 years, making over 250 appearances after joining them from Bristol City in 1996. League Appearances for Bury: 69.

Cameron Belford joined in the summer of 2007 from Coventry City and made his Bury debut in the final match of 2007/08 at Accrington as a substitute. League Appearances for Bury: 0(3).

Defenders:

Tom Newey joined the Shakers from Grimsby Town in the summer of 2009. He began his career at Leeds United but failed to make the first team at Elland Road and had loan spells at Cambridge United and Darlington before joining Leyton Orient in 2003. He made over 50 league appearances for Orient before returning to Cambridge United, but soon after moved to Grimsby and made over 150 first team appearances for the Mariners. He had a short spell on loan at Rochdale last season. League Appearances for Bury: 24.

Ben Futcher is an experienced defender who has played for a number of lower league clubs. After short spells at Oldham, Stalybridge and Doncaster, he moved to Lincoln City in 2002 where he went on to play 119 times scoring 14 goals. He has subsequently played for Boston, Grimsby and Peterborough before moving to Gigg Lane. League Appearances for Bury: 95(3), Goals: 2.

Stephen Dawson joined Mansfield from Leicester in 2005 and has gone on to make over 100 appearances for the Stags. He joined Bury in the summer of 2008. League Appearances for Bury: 6.

Paul Scott joined from Huddersfield in 2004 and has since gone on to play over 200 appearances for Bury. League Appearances for Bury: 195(9), Goals: 13.

Efe Sodje joined Bury in July 2008 after being released by Gillingham. He joined the club from Gillingham on loan in 2007/08this. This experienced defender has played for a number of clubs including Stevenage, Macclesfield, Luton, Yeovil, Southend, Crewe and Huddersfield. League Appearances for Bury: 89(1), Goals: 9.

Ryan Cresswell signed for Bury in the summer of 2008 on a free transfer from Sheffield United. He had spells in 2007/08 on loan at League Two clubs, Macclesfield, Rotherham and Morecambe. League Appearances for Bury: 31(9), Goals: 1.

Midfield:

David Worrall began his career at Bury before joining WBA in 2007 for £50,000 before he’d even made his first start for the Shakers. He has since had spells on loan at Accrington and Shrewsbury before returning to Gigg Lane, on loan, last summer. League Appearances for Bury: 21(6), Goals: 4.

Sam Hewson is on loan from Manchester United. He had a loan spell last season with Hereford United. League Appearances for Bury: 0(3).

Michael Jones signed for Bury in July 2008 after a successful trial at the club. He was at Tranmere Rovers before coming to Gigg Lane and began his career at Shrewsbury. League Appearances for Bury: 74(2), Goals: 9.

Danny Racchi signed for Bury in July 2008 after a successful trial at the club. He was previously at Huddersfield Town. League Appearances for Bury: 10(30).

Richie Baker joined Bury in the summer of 2006 after being released by Preston. He has made over 50 first team appearances scoring 7 goals. League Appearances for Bury: 67(39), Goals: 7.

Brian Barry-Murphy began his career at Preston and had loan spells at Southend and Hartlepool before moving to Sheffield Wednesday in 2002. He made over 50 appearances for the Owls before moving to Bury in 2004. He has made over 200 appearances for the Shakers. League Appearances for Bury: 186(18), Goals: 13.

David Buchanan is a product of the youth system and has made over 150 appearances for the Shakers. League Appearances for Bury: 151(21).

Stephen Dawson joined Bury in the summer of 2008 from Mansfield Town. He played over 100 first team matches for the Stags after joining them from Leicester City. League Appearances for Bury: 71(6), Goals: 6.

Strikers:

Danny Carlton began his career at Morecambe and helped them to promotion from the Conference in 2007. He scored 59 goals for the Shrimps before joining Carlisle in the summer of 2007and scored the goal that won Morecambe promotion to League Two. He had a spell back at Morecambe, on loan, in 2008/09 and later went on loan at Darlington. He joined Bury in the summer of 2009. His career at Bury so far has been hit by injury. League Appearances for Bury: 1.

Ryan Lowe joined Bury from Chester in June 2009. He was Chester’s top scorer last season with 18 goals. He began his career at non-league, Burscough before joining Shrewsbury Town in 2000. He helped them win promotion from the Conference in 2004 before joining Chester. He moved to Crewe in 2006 but re-joined Chester in 2008. He has been a big success this season for the Shakers. League Appearances for Bury: 25(4), Goals: 13.

Tom Elliott is on loan from Leeds United. He had a loan spell at Macclesfield last season. League Appearances for Bury: 5(4), Goals: 1.

Andy Morrell joined Bury in the summer of 2008 after being released by Blackpool. He started his career at Newcastle Blue Star before joining Wrexham in 1998. He made over 100 league appearances for the Dragons scoring 40 goals before moving to Coventry in 2003 where he scored 17 goals in 98 league games in 3 years. He joined Blackpool in 2006 and scored 21 goals in 78 league appearances before joining the Shakers. League Appearances for Bury: 49(13), Goals: 15.                           

Andy Bishop joined York City in 2004 after short spells at Rochdale, Yeovil and Kidderminster and was a big success at the Conference club scoring 35 goals in two seasons and playing for Paul Fairclough’s England National Game XI. Bishop moved to Bury in the summer of 2006.  He has missed a lot of this season so far due to injury. League Appearances for Bury: 124(19), Goals:50.
