MATCH PREVIEW: Millwall

Last Updated : 01-Sep-2009 by
Barnet meet Millwall tonight at Underhill in the 1st Round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. It is the first JPT match to be played at Underhill. Barnet won their first ever JPT match in 2006 at Notts County 1-0 but have failed to win a match since. It is also the first time that Barnet and Millwall have met in a competitive match.

Barnet's fine 1-0 win at home to Notts County on Saturday has taken the Bees up to 4th in the League Two table with three wins on the spin. Confidence in the club is high and the defence, often so leaky last season, has kept three clean sheets in a row too.

Millwall have made a reasonable start in League One and are placed 9th with 7 points from 5 games. The Lions began the season with a 1-1 draw at Southampton. They won their first win of the season, a 2-0 home win over Oldham, sandwiched in between two goalless draws against Carlisle and Southend. Last Friday, they drew 1-1 at the New Den against Brighton.

In the Carling Cup, Millwall knocked out Bournemouth 4-0 at home in the first half, Neil Harris scoring a hat tick, but lost 3-1 after extra rime at West Ham in the 2nd round.

For Barnet tonight, Daniel Leach is very doubtful, while Gary Breen and Kenny Gillet are definitely out. Paul Furlong may be rested which will probably mean a place for Saturday's goal hero, Jake Hyde. Clovis Kamdjo is likely to come in for Leach while Ahmed Deen will continue to deputise for Gillet at left back. Barnet may give a place on the bench to 16 year old scholar, Kofi Lockhart-Adams.

For Millwall, Neil Harris is an injury doubt after missing the match against Brighton last Friday and former Stevenage striker, Steve Morison could also miss the game. There is no extra time tonight and if the scores are level after 90 minutes then it will go to penalties.

For the second successive match, Barnet Mad predicted a draw last Saturday and the Bees won. Tonight we are going to go for a win for the in form Bees with the score ending 2-1. Let's hope that we are not too far out this time!!
