Leary goal gives Bees a point away at Aldershot

Barnet gained a reasonable away point at Aldershot courtesy of a Michael Leary goal scored after just 4 minutes. Lewis Chambers grabbed a second half equaliser for the Shots and the match ended 1-1. Barnet remain in 17th position and now have 47 points from 43 matches. They are two places below Aldershot and are now level on points with Accrington, who have a better goal difference.

Accrington lost at home to Chester City who are experiencing something of a late revival. It was their second win in three games, Ryan Lowe scoring the only goal of the game as Chester won 1-0. They remain in 23rd place and have 36 points from 43 games and still one point from safety following Grimsby Town's 1-0 win at Notts County. Goals from Rob Atkinson and Danny Boshell gave the Mariners a 2-0 win at Meadow Lane, taking them on to 37 points from 43 matches and bringing them level on points with Bournemouth, though the Cherries have a superior goal difference.

Bournemouth, who lost 1-0 at Underhill on Saturday, went down by the same score at home to League Two leaders, Brentford who won through a goal from on loan striker, Jamie Clarke. Bournemouth are now just one point clear of the drop zone and play both Chester and Grimsby on the following two Saturday's.

While the struggle to remain in League Two is likely to go right to the wire for Bournemouth, Chester and Grimsby, Luton Town succumbed to relegation yesterday after drawing at home to Chesterfield. With Chester and Grimsby both winning, the goalless draw meant that they were 13 points from safety with just 4 matches left and so they must start preparing for life in the Blue square Premier next season. Luton travel to Underhill next Saturday to meet Barnet for the first time in a competitive match at the ground. It seems amazing to think that when Luton last played at Underhill, in a pre-season friendly in the summer of 2006, they were looking forward to a new season in the Championship. They have now experienced relegation in each of the last three seasons.
