Barnet easily went through on Wednesday to the 2nd round of the Herts Senior Cup with a convincing win over Tring Athletic of the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division at the Grass Roots stadium.
The Bees, watched by Edgar Davids, played a strong side including anumber of first team squad players such as Sam Cowler, Olly Lee, Ahmed Abdulla, Jon Fortune, Jon Nurse, Jack Saville and Curtis Weston.
Jamal LOWE, an academy youngster who is close to breaking into the first team himself, put the Bees ahead on 21 minutes before young winger, Iffy ALLEN, who made his first team debut in the FA Cup game against Oxford United last weekend, scored twice in 11 minutes to put Barnet 3-0 up. The game was a s good as over before half time when Jon NURSE, back from injury, made it 4-0 after 36 minutes.
Barnet eased off in the second half, but Ahmed ABDULLA made it 5-0 on the hour before Tring pulled one back through Reon Thomas on 73 minutes. Barnet’s Jamal LOWE rounded off the scoring with his second goal late on to give the Bees a resounding 6-1 win and see them through to a 2nd round tie at Ware on the 3rd December. Ware play in the Ryman League Division One North.
