Barnet are expected to sign Arsenal reserve right back, Abu Ogogo on loan, on Friday, until the end of the season. This is despite the fact that he missed Saturday's game at home to Dagenham & Redbridge with a stomach muscle pain. Ogogo has made 6 first team starts for the Bees plus one appearance as a substitute. He has scored one goal, away at Luton Town where he was, unfortunately, sent off.
Manager, Ian Hendon is also keeping a close watch on the situation regarding centre back, Michael Townsend, who returned to Cheltenham Town after three months on loan with the Bees, where he made 15 first team appearances. Townsend, who is suspended for one match after picking up five yellow cards, is discussing his future with Cheltenham manager, and former Barnet manager, Martin Allen. Townsend has made 13 first team appearances for Cheltenham this season.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper, Rob Beckwith who joined the club from Luton Town in the summer of 2008 has announced he is retiring from football. This followed soon after he was made available for loan along with Ashley Carew, Luke Medley and Danny Hart. Beckwith made 17 first team appearances for Barnet.
Manager, Ian Hendon could make a loan signing before Saturday's match away at Accrington. Barnet have a real problem with the centre of the defence. Hendon is already without Jeremy de Magalhaes and now has further problems as both Michael Leary and Michael Townsend, even if he re-signs for the club, are both suspended. On top of this, Ismail Yakubu, who was substituted at halt time on Saturday, has a hamstring injury and Gary Breen, who missed Saturday's match, is set to have a scan to assess how bad his groin injury is. Barnet could be left without a specialist centre back and forced to play Joe Devera and Kenny Gillet, newly named as captain, as the two centre backs with possibly, Max Porter and Nicky Nicolau played at full back. However, it's quite likely that Hendon will look to making a loan signing to fill at least one of the centre back positions.
Meanwhile, Keiron St. Amie and Elliott Charles have gone on loan to struggling Blue Square Premier club, Lewes. They both made their debuts in Lewes' 3-3 draw at home to Havant & Waterlooville in the 2nd round of the FA Trophy. Charles scored on his debut after being played in by St. Amie. On Saturday, they both featured in Lewes' 3-0 defeat at York City in the Blue Square Premier. Last night, St. Amie scored his first goal for Lewes in their 4-3 defeat in the replayed FA Trophy match at Havant.
