Barnet have signed two midfield players on loan for the rest of the season. Anthony Pulis is the son of Stoke boss, Tony Pulis and has been signed from Southampton. He is 26 and began his career at Portsmouth before moving to Stoke City in December 2004. He made just 2 league appearances as a substitute for Stoke, but had loan spells at Torquay, Plymouth, Grimsby and Bristol Rovers. He joined Southampton in 2008 but has yet to make his debut. He was on loan last season at Lincoln City, where he made 8 first team appearances and has played on loan at Stockport County this season, scoring 1 goal from 13 first team appearances.
Sam Deering is 19 and has joined from Oxford United where he is rated as a talented and promising young player, who has, perhaps, suffered slightly from a somewhat poor attitude. Deering was at Chelsea and Charlton Athletic as a youth player and joined Oxford in 2006. He made his first team debut for Oxford in August 2008, but was unlucky to break his leg against Salisbury Town in December of that year. In September 2009 he had a short loan spell at Newport County. He played in the Conference play-off final at the end of last season at Wembley against York City, setting up Oxford’s 3rd goal which clinched promotion for Oxford. This season, he has had another loan spell at Newport County. He has scored 4 goals in 47 first team appearances for the club.
